Animating shadows in 3ds max using noise control



 i'm posting a very simple tutorial on how to make a Animating shadows in 3ds max using noise control.this can be useful for creating a animating shadows for fires,explosions,light flickers etc....

1. First create a simple objects. In the perspective viewport make a shape look like this.

2.create some random mr area omni lights in the scene.after creating lights create some sphere and Aline to the lights then select the light make a link to the sphere

3.then select the sphere go to-->motion-->assign controller as shown bellow


4.After selection assign controller select the transform position you want to assign the controller for example:-select X position and got to assign float controller.In that list select BEZIER FLOAT then select FLOAT LIST.as shown bellow

5.After selecting those bought again select  NOISE FLOAT and apply.

6.Noise controller will appear.then change following parameters. 

7.like that apply for all the XYZ axis to move the lights randomly.

After making some tweaks final result will be like this.

CREATING SUN RISE AND SUN SET IN 3DS MAX


 For this tutorial, I will be using 3ds max. but please note that this tutorial will work not matter what type of render system you are about to use. It works great in both Mental Ray 
I wanted to create a simple SUN RISE AND SUN SET SETUP, and it started as a really simple scene. I showed it around to my friends.I wanted to share with you something that I think you will enjoy (I surely hope so).


1. First create a simple plane. In the perspective viewport make a shape look like this.


2.Select our plane go to--> modify panel-->select noise node,change following parameters.


3. After selecting noise node change following parameters.



4.to get the waves to be animated select animation.change following parameters.



5.Next lets make some lighting setup for the scene go to--> create-->lights-->daylight system.




6.this daylight system makes lighting more easier for this kind of scene.



7.In order to use daylight system with our metal ray render , enable the "Final Gather".( Rendering -->Render-->Indirect Illumination--->Final Gather-->Enable)



8.select the daylight system.then you will see the 3 types of positions 1.Manual,2.Date,time,location,3.Weather data file.In the manual we can change the daylight to any where manually like ordinary lights dues..Weather data file this we are not going to discus we need to get the weather data to setup automatically.


9.lets setup Date,time,location settings. select Date,time,location and press setup.as shown below



10.after selecting Date,time,location setup.there will be a Hours,Mins,Secs this represent our daily timing wither  its a morning,afternoon,evening,night.......change according to you are requirement.and also you can animate the daylight system by keying the hours.




11.The most important thing for the any scene is ENVIRONMENT.when you create the daylight system its automatically creates the environment map" Mr PHYSICAL SKY" for the scene.


12.Lets create our water material,first go-to material Editor( press M or Rendering-->Material Editor)
and assign a material to our plane. Change the following parameters of the material.






After making some tweaks final result will be like this.
